Treatment Plans for Recovery: Alcohol or Drug Intervention, Executive Treatment, and Sober Living Houses
Alcohol or Drug Intervention
An intervention is the process of changing what is happening or might happen in another’s affairs, especially in order to prevent something undesirable. An alcohol or drug intervention aims to encourage an individual into a treatment program. The intervention process involves a great deal of preparation. Families and friends of an individual suffering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction must work together to develop a proper plan of action. It is recommended that families contact a professional interventionist who can provide various intervention services and can help find an appropriate treatment center. The intervention itself must be executed very carefully. Those who are present must remain non-judgmental and must be supportive and encouraging. The goal is to help the individual confront the issue and get help.
Executive Treatment
For some individuals, executive treatment is the best option. Executive rehab is targeted towards individuals in the business world who are under a great deal of pressure in their everyday lives. This targeted approach has proved to be fairly successful as executive rehab programs are specialized towards certain beliefs and values.
Living in a Sober Living House
After completing an intensive inpatient treatment program or after participating in executive treatment some individuals may feel completely confident in returning home. Others however may feel somewhat anxious and unsure of his or her abilities to stay sober while facing the realities of work, relationships, etc. For these individuals living in a sober living house for a short period of time may be exactly what they need. A sober living house is a less structured environment that provides individuals with a place to practice sober living with less supervision. This is a good stepping-stone and can reduce an individuals chances for relapse.
