Entering A Sober Home: For A Sober Living Lifestyle
Not everyone knows what a sober home is all about. In fact, some addicts and families have never heard the term sober living before. Essentially, once an alcoholic or drug addict admits that they have a problem and that their problem is bigger than them and enters into a rehabilitation center the goal of that rehab is to help them achieve sober living.
Sober living is possible whether it’s sober living in Los Angeles, sober living in orange county or sober living in Santa Barbara. Wherever you life there are sober living facilities out there, ready and willing to take you in and help you with all that you need.
The idea is that once you start working towards recovery you accept a sober living lifestyle. What does that mean? It means that you know no longer use drugs or alcohol. Some people leave rehab sober and feel so good that they are convinced they don’t have a problem because they were able to stay away for so long and they were able to accept that they had a drinking or drug problem and that in order to be okay they couldn’t go back to drugs or alcohol.
That’s why most rehabs work hard to make sure that they addict understands that just because they are feeling good and were able to abstain doesn’t mean they have control over their drinking or drug use. They cannot half go back. There is no such thing as one drinking to an alcoholic. There is no such thing as one line, one hit off a joint. If you are addicted you may start with having one glass but it will eventually turn into two and three glasses. You’ll find a way to bargain with your addiction.
