Alcohol Center Treatment: First Step To Recovery Acceptance

Accepting that you are an alcoholic is one of the first steps to an alcohol center treatment program. Some addicts want to go to rehab but never want to utter the words I’m an alcoholic. What does that word mean? Does it mean that once it leaves your lips you will never be able to change your mind on that? Does it mean that by going to rehab and admitting it to yourself and your peers and your family and friends that you are making yourself accountable to them? Yes, it does. It means that you are saying it out loud which means that if you do drink they have a right to say, “Wait aren’t you an alcoholic?” It also means that you will be asking yourself that question to.
Any executive treatment center will tell you that the second you utter those words it’s a game changer. If you are afraid of that it’s because you are not ready to leave it all behind yet. That doesn’t mean that if you aren’t ready to leave it all behind you should quit drinking, it just means that you haven’t fully accepted your alcoholism.
