Alcohol and Drug Intervention
An alcohol and drug intervention is in some cases, the first step to recovery. The primary goal of conducting an intervention is to encourage an individual to make changes in their life, and hopefully to enter some sort of treatment program. When it comes to alcoholics and/or drug addicts, the main goal of an intervention would be to encourage them to enter a treatment program where he or she may begin to rebuild his or her life. The type of treatment program they choose to participate in depends completely on their personality, the severity of their addiction or abuse, etc. It is extremely important to find the right treatment program, so a great deal of research should be done prior to the intervention that highlights various options.

Alcohol and Drug Program Rehab
The next step, post drug and/or alcohol intervention should be the participation in an alcohol and/or drug program rehab. There are countless drug and alcohol rehab programs throughout the country that specialize in treating individuals suffering from drug addiction and/or alcohol abuse. California in particular is known for the multitude of drug and alcohol treatment centers within its vicinity. These treatment centers may differ in their approach to treatment, which further emphasizes the importance of doing prior research. If inpatient rehab isn’t right for you, then outpatient rehab might be the solution.

Sober Living Home
It is almost important to consider the option of a sober living home. Residing in a sober living home is encouraged, but usually after a more intensive and structured treatment program has been completed. A sober living home allows an individual to further prepare his or herself for reality. By living with other individuals who are in very similar positions, each is given the opportunity to encourage and support each other and promote a healthy and sober lifestyle.
