Achieving Sober Living Through Alcohol and Drug Interventions and Alcohol Drug Treatment

Alcohol and Drug Intervention
An alcohol and/or drug intervention is an attempt by family and friends of an individual suffering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction to confront the issue(s) and tackle them head on. Many alcoholics and drug addicts live in denial of their problems. Either they are too scared or too weak to acknowledge that the problem exists, or they are so deep into it that they actually are unaware of the severity of their problem. An alcohol and drug intervention helps address this issue of denial as family and friends are present to reveal to the individual the reality of the problem, and the various negative implications that have resulted from it. The ultimate goal is to perform the intervention and then guide the individual into treatment immediately.

Alcohol Drug Treatment
Alcohol drug treatment is one form of treatment for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. Alcohol drug treatment can come in the form of inpatient rehabilitation or outpatient rehabilitation. Both have proven to be successful, it simply depends on the individual and the severity of his or her addiction. Both forms of rehabilitation involve individual counseling and group counseling. Inpatient rehab however, is more intense and comprehensive and requires a larger and longer commitment. Outpatient rehab is effective, but doesn’t guarantee the same results as inpatient rehab.

Sober Living
The ultimate goal is that after completion of an alcohol and drug intervention, and after an extended period of time in alcohol drug treatment, the individual will be able to achieve sober living. Whether it is through inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, 12-step programs, etc., achieving a sober lifestyle is an achievement that deserves a round of applause. It can be very difficult to admit to weakness or failure, but by doing so, and by then taking the necessary steps towards recovery, an individual has the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life.
